Fighting the Negative Sentiment: Will Meta Find Its Place in the Metaverse?
The moment of truth for Meta comes on October 2022
Will Meta change the mind of its VR critics?
Meta has been receiving strong criticism over its VR development.
And those of you who follow the news, you are probably aware that Meta is being mocked quite hard lately.
People are suspicious on the company’s capability to bring into reality the next stage of digital connection.
And that’s why Meta is aiming to silence its critics.
The way Meta will do that is through the 2022 Connect Conference. That is where it’ll showcase its “top-notch” technologies.
The event will take place on October 11th and it’ll be virtual.
What Meta really expects to showcase in this conference is its new “Cambria” advance VR headset.
The perks of the “Cambria” VR headset are:
1) It will have higher resolution image quality (compared to “Quest”)
2) It will enable the wearer to view their real world surroundings by employing outward-facing cameras.
The reason for №2 is that Meta’s “Cambria” wants to blend together with easiness the virtual with the real world, so that users have the chance to enjoy mixed-reality experiences.
As a sceptic myself, I find intriguing that Meta positioned itself into mixing realities.
So, what’s next from Meta and Mr. Z?
Will Mr. Z present actual, in-world digital experiences, which can display the full capacity of Meta’s VR vision?
Or the whole attempt will simply go bust and lose steam really fast?
The dream of an interactive and cross-platform Metaverse is waning.
The amount of cross-company work needed for such an attempt is humongous and resource-intensive, deterring such investments.
The potential of immersive digital connection is still there.
But, we’re definitely not close yet.
My perception is that Meta is going to shoot itself on its foot.
Mainly, because consumers are not anymore stupid.
Most are highly tech-perceptive and expect better things from Meta.
Will we eventually see the formation of a new digital paradigm?
On October 11th we’ll have a much better idea!
